QUESTION: Hello doctor i guess u might be mad at me cos after the abortion(1st wk of march) i last told you about  i had an unprotected sex with my spouse 6wks later on two occassions(2nd-3rd wk of april) but it was withdrawal and knowing that its not reliable i took postinor on this two occasions.i later saw my period from on d 27th of april-2nd of may to be precise and now the month of may is ending i've not seen my period.im scared because i dont know if im pregnant again due to the unprotected sex even though i took postinor and i dont know if the postinor induced menstration while i could be pregnant.though my nipples are slightly paining me when touched which is a normal pre menstral sign for me but this could also be a sign of pregnancy.although i did a strip test few days ago and it turned out to be negative.i heard that afta an abortion a ladies menstral cycle becomes irregular so in case im not pregnant, could missin my period for a month constitute irregular menstral cycle???and im i likely to see my period next month which is june??? Or am i actually pregnant again???doctor im so scared nd confused.

Answer
Hi Gertrude again,

yes, irregularity of bleeding patterns after an abortion can take a considerable time. Even half a year.
So if you have only protected sex nothing can go wrong. If you do not want a baby, tell your partner to use condoms until your periods are regular again. This will go faster when you start to use the contraception pill.
No panic. If the test is negative you are not pregnant.
Bye for now,
Dr Shan
