Abortion/curiosity

Question
hi.. i have never asked questions like this online..but i am now starting to get scared.. well... i had an abortion in the end of november of 09.. my bleeding continued until about the middle of february, it was extremely irregular, it would last about 2 weeks pretty heavy to start.. then it would taper off, start again not quite as heavy.. I am happily married and we want to have one together. i have not bleed or even spotted since february, and again me and my husband are trying for another.. nothing major has really changed in my life for it to be stress.. so i am really curious if why i have yet to have a period again is because my body got a little screwed up after the abortion.. or if i could possibly be pregnant again..

Answer
Hello, elizabeth,

Are you saying you were bleeding the whole time, just very light at times, and heavy at other times? What kind of abortion did you have? Have you taken a pregnancy test? Have you been using any birth control?

Abortion often does mess up a woman's cycle. If you tell me more, I may be able to offer more of an opinion. Abortion can stop a woman from ever conceiving again. We will hope that is not the case with you. Please take care, and let me know more so I can say more. Thanks!

Expertise

I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of eleven. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues. I am not a doctor, but I have done extensive medical research, so I may be able to help with information. I am female. When you write, if you are or were pregnant, please tell me how far along you were or are, and if you have had an abortion, please tell me what kind. Thank you.

Experience

I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.

Education/Credentials
I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.
