QUESTION: hi...dr. shan i had an abortion last jan. 26 i took 2 pcs cytotec...but it was just generic...i had a spooting only...then i bought PT its still positive...then i took again 3 cytotec in feb 2 2010 i took one and i inserted 2 cytotec at my vagina,,,then i bleed just one day...small clots..then i bought again PT still it was positive...then i took again 3 cytotec at feb.15 2010...i took 2 then inserted one...until now im still bleeding but its not heavy...the first 4 days it was quite heavy and passed a small clots..but im wondering why im still bleeding its two weeks now...huhuhu...im afraid..what shud i take to stop bleeding and to prevent it...here in our country abortion is not allowed so pls help me....just reply in my email dr. shan...thank you

ANSWER: Hi dear Mae,
you are making a great mistake: The PT stays positive until 3 weeks after the abortion.
Bleeding after the abortion can take also two or more weeks.
Do not take medication whatsoever now anymore.
Just wait for 3 weeks and do a PregTest again.
When you have no unprotected sex in the period the test will be negative agin.
So, no worry and a bit of patience !

Thanx for the kind rating.
As long as there is bleeding, it means there is an open connection with the inside of your whomb; so there is a chance of infection. Sex is no problem, but use condoms until after your next period.

Hi Mae, once more.. (;-)

When you have an infection the signs are Pain and fever.
When you have the infection in your uterus or vagina there is some foul smelling
discharge as well . Not the normal whitish discharge.
Infection with a yeast normally give no pain or fever but iching discharge, foaming
ore yoghurtlike.
