I had a termination on 2/20/2010 I also had unprotected sex several times now on 3/11/2010 I had a positive pregnancy test and I feel funny with a little light head is this a accurate test

Answer
Hello, Chan,

You didn't really give me enough information to answer your question. You didn't tell me what kind of abortion you had, for one thing. Generally, pregnancy hormones last awhile after an abortion. For that reason, you could simply still have leftover hormones. You didn't say what brand of test you took, either. It is also unlikely you were fertile at the time you had sex. That takes awhile, too, and once you are fertile, it takes another 2 to 3 weeks for a pregnancy test to register a new pregnancy.

All of that said, why are you asking to be put right back into the situation where you were when you decided to have an abortion? Protection doesn't really work, so the only option you have if you're not married, is to abstain. It's the only safe and reliable thing to do. And pregnancy isn't the only concern. Getting a nasty disease or getting an infection is also a danger. Some of these diseases are incurable, and can plague a woman all her life. If you are married, you can learn to tell when you are fertile, or you can decide to accept a child.

Light-headedness could indicate either low blood pressure or an infection, or even something else. It's not one of the usual signs of pregnancy that people think of. If the abortion injured you, you could be bleeding internally, and that could cause you to feel lightheaded. See how you continue to feel. If you used any medications in your vagina, please be aware that this is VERY dangerous, and could cause an infection that could kill you within hours. This is caused by Clostridium sordellii. If you develop other symptoms, have someone take you to the emergency room, and have them look for Clostridium sordellii. Even though it's been long enough that this is probably not the case, you can't take any chances.

Try testing for pregnancy again in a week. If it is simply old pregnancy hormones, it should look less positive. Abortion is dangerous no matter how it is done. Please take care of yourself, and don't take any more chances with your life and health.

Expertise

I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of eleven. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues. I am not a doctor, but I have done extensive medical research, so I may be able to help with information. I am female. When you write, if you are or were pregnant, please tell me how far along you were or are, and if you have had an abortion, please tell me what kind. Thank you.

Experience

I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.

Education/Credentials
I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.
