Answer
Hello, lucy,

You actually have been exposed to three separate sources of toxins. The first is the anesthesia they gave you for the abortion. The second is the hormones in the IUD, and the third is the IUD itself. All of this combined, plus the fact you took steroids, would tend to mean your body is now quite toxic. You might want to seriously consider having the IUD removed. This is especially the case if you happen to be pregnant. I was unable to find any information about an IUD called "meritna", but it's possible that what you are talking about is Mirena. Here is a page of information about the safety issues with respect to Mirena. Let me know if this is the one you are using.

The information I have is that Mirena does not contain any substances likely to yield a positive pregnancy test. But I'm doubtful about the accuracy of the test you took, being positive. The reason is because it is rare for a woman's body to return to a normal cycle that quickly. Most pregnancy tests won't register anything for about 2 to 3 weeks. You should test again in a week.

Obviously, if you have the IUD removed, you will have to figure out what to do to prevent pregnancy, since that appears to be what you want to accomplish. I strongly recommend that if you are NOT married, you abstain. It is much, much safer for many reasons. Abortion is dangerous and can kill you or cause serious permanent damage, including to your future children. Also, having sex with someone who has ever slept with anyone else can result in getting a nasty disease. It's really not worth the risk. If you are married, you can learn to tell when you are fertile, or you might want to seriously consider accepting a baby if you become pregnant again. Please don't even think of risking your life by having another abortion!

Don't rely on "protection". It doesn't work. Neither does pulling out.

Some women have sex because they're looking for love, or because they don't want to lose their boyfriends, and they may not even enjoy it. Other women do enjoy it. But if you are doing it for reasons other than enjoyment, you really deserve better. If you are doing it because you enjoy it, you might want to ask yourself if the personal risk is worth the enjoyment. There are other ways to express affection (but all methods of penetrating your body would carry the risk of disease), and exercising a moderate amount can produce the same pleasure.

There are a number of methods for detoxifying, all natural. The one I have personally found most effective is Detox by Solaray. A dose is 10 capsules, and 2 or 3 doses ought to do it. I recommend you find someone who is knowledgeable in natural remedies and have them help you with this.

Please take care of yourself, and feel free to ask more questions. Let me know how you do.

Expertise

I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of eleven. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues. I am not a doctor, but I have done extensive medical research, so I may be able to help with information. I am female. When you write, if you are or were pregnant, please tell me how far along you were or are, and if you have had an abortion, please tell me what kind. Thank you.

Experience

I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.

Education/Credentials
I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.
