Abortion/pregnancy after abortion

Question
I have a baby who is one year old, and I got pregnant, however, I took an abortion pill. I got my period after, however I was not bleeding much. I went to a doctor, and he told me that the blood is not coming out, it is getting stuck in my uterus instead of coming out. He gave me some medicine which stimulates the menses so the blood would come out of my uterus. I am in real pain, and my tummy had grown bigger. He also told me that if the blood didnot come out, we will have to do suck it out. However, I won't be able to get pregnant ever again...
I am wondering how accurate that is... I am not sure of that doctor.. I really appreciate your effort to answer my question.

Answer
Hello, Natalie,

I think that "doctor" is handing you a bunch of hooey.  You haven't said how far along you were when you took the pill, and that's important. The person who is giving you all this stuff has violated medical ethics. To begin with, abortion is unethical. If he gave you the usual pills, then he gave you one pill that the manufacturer says a pregnant woman should NEVER take. This is because it can kill a woman in one of several ways, sometimes within hours. Either he didn't read the information that the company supplies, or he doesn't care. Then the one who gave you this additional medicine is also acting unethically. And he is telling you that you won't be able to get pregnant ever again? Abortion does make some women unable to conceive ever again, but not all. A woman takes a chance, but if he says you definitely won't, I'm wondering if he plans to do something that will make you sterile. Also, he may have given you the same medicine that the manufacturer says a pregnant woman should never use. Sometimes that medicine causes contractions so hard they rupture a woman's uterus. There is no way to control the strength of the contractions.

I recommend you find a decent and ethical doctor immediately, to help you. You can find such a doctor by contacting an organization near you that helps pregnant women. You can find one near you by going to this web site:

http://www.pregnancycenters.org/

Since it's night, there is a good chance there will be no one in the office. If that is the case, call the phone number on the web site and ask them to help you reach someone.

I'm not on as often for the moment as usual, so I probably won't get back to you until morning if you require further help from me. I hope you will be all right, and I will pray for you. But the people on that web site should be able to help you. Please let me know how you do. Good luck!

I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of eleven. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues. I am not a doctor, but I have done extensive medical research, so I may be able to help with information. I am female. When you write, if you are or were pregnant, please tell me how far along you were or are, and if you have had an abortion, please tell me what kind. Thank you.

Experience

I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.

Education/Credentials
I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.
