Abortion/Medical Abortion
Expert: Pat G - 4/9/2010
QuestionQUESTION: I'm 17 years of age and I got pregnant and I can't handle the extra stress of having a child because I too am still a child and going to school. I took the abortion pill misoprostol yesterday I took 4 at first then after 4 hours i took another 4 as prescribed by the pharmacist. After the first dose I had cramps and light bleeding and diarrhea and after the 2nd dose I had worsened cramps and heavy bleeding with large blood clots and all this happened at 4 am so I was tired and decided to go to sleep and when I woke up my bed was in blood so I cleaned up and the bleeding continued in clots for a little then started to come lightly but I was reading up and other people who have done the medical abortion had heavy bleeding with blood clots for at least a week, so why is mine coming lightly so soon? Is it because I wasn't so far along? Or is the abortion incomplete? Please help me
ANSWER: Hello, Alyssa,
I am so sorry you did this. These pills are dangerous and can kill you. The manufacturer of misoprostol says a pregnant woman should NEVER take it. Believe me, the stress of dealing with pregnancy doesn't begin to compare with the stress you can experience from what you have done.
You sound like you may have lost a lot of blood. This is dangerous. Please see if you can get some red hot peppers, either as a supplement called Cayenne, or in food, and take/eat some on a regular basis until the bleeding stops. Also, if you took any pills vaginally, you need to have the doctor test your body for Clostridium sordellii IMMEDIATELY. If you have it in your body, it can kill you, and it only takes a few hours. Knowing before you get symptoms may be your only hope of not losing your life.
You also need to be aware that if the abortion was successful, you are now much more likely to get breast cancer, while you are still young, and this particular form kills 1/4 of its victims. So you need to be vigilant. Don't get mammograms. See if you can find someone who will do thermograms for you. There is information on the internet about natural ways you can help protect yourself. I will give you some specifics if you ask.
You didn't say how far along you were, so I can't comment on that part of your question. Misoprostol doesn't always cause abortion, so you might still be pregnant. If you are, leave things alone. Find a decent doctor and let him take care of you. Even though you are 17, you are almost an adult, and it is possible to have a child and go to school. I know this because I did it. In fact, I had four children when I got my college degree. But a 17 year old certainly should not be deciding to take powerful drugs! That's what doctors are for: to advise people about things like this. As things stand now, your life is in danger. The bleeding could become heavy again at any time.
PLEASE take care of yourself and don't do this again. Please see a doctor immediately. Let me know how you do.

QUESTION: My boyfriend and I went to the doctor today and he told me that there still remaining tissue and he referred me to an abortion specialist to take out the remains so I that's what I'm going to do.
AnswerHello, Alyssa,
Definitely if you have remaining tissue, you need to get it cleaned out. However, whatever you do, do NOT go to an abortion specialist to do it! They CANNOT be trusted. I am dead serious!
I had a personal experience that I think says a lot. I was in much the same position as you: losing a lot of blood. I went to the hospital. While I was there, someone I didn't know was sent in as a consultant. He said I needed an operation. It turns out that he was an abortionist. What he didn't tell me is that my baby was still alive, and if he operated, he'd be doing an abortion on me! And it is entirely possible that this is what an "abortion specialist" would also be doing to you. Any doctor who is willing to TOLERATE "abortion specialists" in the profession has already sold out on medical ethics.
This is just one of the many ways in which an "abortion specialist" can be very destructive. They have RENOUNCED medical ethics to be involved in abortion in the first place. And not only does that mean they do unethical things, but their medical judgment is warped.
In Britain, there was a report that the most experienced abortionists were the ones who caused the most damage.
I realize it may be difficult to find someone who will be able to get the remaining tissue (if that's what it is) out of your uterus. However, I strongly urge you to find someone else. Seriously. Abortionists do so MUCH damage to women's bodies. They're careless. Such a person could perforate your uterus, and cause you to bleed to death, which, given your situation, would be much easier to do.
So while I agree you need to have it resolved, PLEASE find someone else to do it, not an "abortion specialist."
