Question
QUESTION: had a abortion pill insertion 1 week ago and experienced cramping, bleeding and even passed clots. But 1 week later still feeling pregnant.in fact breasts are swollen and morning sickness is so bad keeps me in bed most days. Pregancy test taken this weekend (2 lines) shows positive result although one line was quite faint. What is the possibility of still being pregnant. and is the fetus viable for the full term?

ANSWER: Hello, pamela,

You have not told me one very important piece of information. How far along were you a week ago? Also, you haven't told me what medication you used.

Since you said you took pills by insertion, did you insert them vaginally? If so, you are still at risk of dying from toxic shock syndrome. Toxic shock syndrome is caused by Clostridium sordellii. I urge you to go to a doctor and get tested for this. If you have it, they need to start immediate treatment, but there are no guarantees. If you wait until symptoms start, your life can probably not be saved.

Pregnancy hormones take awhile to decline. These hormones will continue to cause you to have symptoms of pregnancy. For morning sickness, the best remedy is to sip ginger tea or ginger ale with real sugar. A doctor can also give you medication for it. If you are still bleeding, you should be getting cayenne into your body. You can take it in capsules, or get it by eating spicy foods with red hot peppers in them.

I can't answer your question of whether or not the baby has a chance until I know the answers to my questions. From what you are telling me, it seems unlikely, however. But I can talk about that once you let me know. Please take care of yourself and let me know how you do.

QUESTION: i was four and half weeks pregnant. The doctor inserted in vaginally (cytotec) 1 capsule within 4 hours cramping and bleeding symptoms began. I feel so pregnant and I am scared. i cannot afford another child and am not emotionally or financially fit to go through another pregnancy yet. I am heading to the doctor today, appointment.Thank you for your support. I will update on my return.

Answer
Hello, pamela,

I am glad that I heard back from you so quickly, because I must soon go to bed. You need to stay away from that doctor. He has committed malpractice. Find another doctor immediately!

I feel for you being scared, and I don't blame you. I don't know that Cytotec by itself will accomplish an abortion.

Regardless of whether the pills work or not, you will still very much feel pregnant at this point. But you really need to take care of yourself. If you get hurt, who will take care of your other child?

I will do everything I can to help you find solutions to your problems. Also, there are two organizations in the Bahamas that can help you. Here is the information:

Mt. Tabor Full Gospel Baptist Church
PO Box N9705
Nassau
Bahamas

Elohim Heartbeat
PO Box SB-50004
Nassau, New Providence
Bahamas

If you do not live near one of these, contact them anyway, and ask them to give you a contact near you.

PLEASE take care of yourself and your children. Go to a decent doctor, not one that endangers your life, and get some treatment. Please do keep in touch. And you're welcome.

Expertise

I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of eleven. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues. I am not a doctor, but I have done extensive medical research, so I may be able to help with information. I am female. When you write, if you are or were pregnant, please tell me how far along you were or are, and if you have had an abortion, please tell me what kind. Thank you.

Experience

I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.

Education/Credentials
I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.
