Question
I started the medical abortion process on Tuesday, finished the vaginal suppositories yesterday at 9pm.  Throughout the day yesterday i had light flow...and today i have had a brown thick discharge (a pasty consistency)(approximately a palm full). I read almost everywhere that there should be heavy bleeding, and the expulsion of the pregnancy should be within 24hrs.. But only stated heavy bleeding.. Nothing about thick brown blood.. my cramps got worse as more brown discharge came out. I know its still early, but i have found no info on a similar experience. Your input and opinion would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou

Answer
Hi Kathryn,
thick brown blood as you describe is old blood. So I think your pregnancy was already spontanously finished. You only helped the products coming out. Be happy, you escaped heavy bleeding. The uterus will clean itself which might takes some more days. No worry.
No more pills needed. Just start contraception.
Goodbye for now,
Dr Shan
