Abortion/Pain After Abortion

Question
Hello. I'm from South Africa and really need some insight as to what I'm going through.
Today is Saturday, and on monday, i had a Abortion. i was 8 weeks pregnant. I'm not too sure what kind of abortion i had, as i kept my eyes closed through out the whole thing. i didn't hear much suction though... only every now and then. an hour before, i had to take 2 pills, one i had to swallow. the other i had to put inside me. then wait an hour before she did the procedure. I'm guessing that she scraped most of it out.
i was then given 3 tablets to take. she said they were for infection. and then told to buy "essence of life" and drink it 3 times a day, to make sure that everything comes out. it has been 5 days, and I'm still bleeding... not as heavily as i was before, but still bleeding. and I'm getting extreme pain in stomach. pain pills work, but only for a little while. it is now to the point where the pain wakes me up in the evening.

1 year and 4 months ago, i had a c-section. and my cut feels VERY sensitive now after the procedure. 3 years ago, i gave birth naturally, but didn't have a medical aid then, so went to a government hospital, they didn't look after me, and now i have something called virginal-rectal fusel i think its called.

is the pain I'm going through normal, or should it be something to be concerned about?

Answer
Hello, Candice,

Pain is ALWAYS a sign that something is not right. So you really should have it checked out. In this case, it sounds like either injury or infection.

I'm not quite clear about what a "virginal-rectal fusel" would be. The first thing I can think of is that because of your C-section, you have adhesions of some kind. This can cause pain. Another possibility is vaginal prolapse. This is when the organs move from their normal position. One example is rectovaginal fascia, when the rectal wall pushes against the vaginal wall, creating a bulge. Whether or not this will pose a perplexing problem, I don't know. You will need to talk to a doctor who can examine you to find out more about that.

From what you have said, you had a surgical abortion. They will probably spend most of the time scraping and cutting, so you might not hear suction that often. Unfortunately, 3 tablets won't do much to protect you from infection. Infection can be caused by bacteria, viruses, or fungus. Usually, antibiotics are taken for 10 days, and they only work against bacteria. "Essence of Life" can be one of any number of things. I would have to know more to be able to comment on that. If you look on the bottle and can tell me who makes it, or what their web site is, that would be helpful.

You really need to go see a doctor. Don't go back to the person who did the abortion. That person cannot be trusted, and won't want to admit that she caused any damage. But abortion ALWAYS damages a woman's body. In some cases, the damage is worse than in others. But there's nothing normal about having an abortion, and certainly there is nothing normal about having pain at this point. So you are going to need to have it checked out, and you will probably need medical treatment of some kind.

Please take care of yourself, and let me know how you do. Feel free to ask more questions if you have more on your mind. Please don't take any more chances with your life. Stay safe!
