Hi, I had a medical abortion by aspiration at 5 weeks on July 18, 2010. On August I had my period with my regular amount of bleed. Now, in September I got my period on the 21st (the second period after the procedure) and it is extremely heavy, still passing clots, the first day (21 september) I had to change pads 8 times in a 5 hour period, today, two days after period started, I am still bleeding quite heavy, not as heavy as two days ago, but heavier than my normal period for over the years. I am 36. Should I worry? Thanks

Abortion is dangerous, and you should always be concerned about what the long term consequences might be. Aspiration abortion is done by instruments that are particularly hard to clean and make sterile, so infection is a lot more common. That's the first thing that comes to mind. That is way too much bleeding. It will weaken you, and your immune system. I don't think your age has much bearing on it.

I recommend you go to the doctor and let him check you thoroughly. Don't go to the person who did the abortion. That person cannot be trusted. Doctors are trained that abortion is unethical and bad medicine, and if someone does an abortion for any but the gravest medical reasons, they are already showing poor medical judgment.

In the meantime, try this: get some cayenne (red hot pepper) into your body. You can either take it as a supplement, if you can buy it, or in spicy food. Also, take remedies for infection. Some fairly strong remedies include Nutrasilver (which you can order online), and grapefruit seed extract. There are different organisms that can cause infection, so it is important to have whatever it is diagnosed, if there is an infection. Some remedies work against certain organisms but not others. But you need to bring the bleeding under control.

While it is also possible that the reason is injury, that seems less likely given your history of a normal period with days before and after with no bleeding.
