hi dr
i had a medical abortion 8 weeks ago, after 5 weeks it was descovered i had
retained products of conception and a block in my cervix. the block was
removed and i was given more tablets to pass what was left. 2 weeks ago i
went for a internal scan and the dr said everything was fine i had passed what
they were concerned about and their was only a small bit left that was low
down and ready to come away and not cause problems. it has now been 2
weeks since i was given the all clear and i have had heavy bleeding that i
think was my period. it has now slowed down and is very light but still have
very small pieces of blood in the bottom of the toilet. is this normal? and how
long can this last? please help i was 6 weeks and 3 days pregnant,

Hi Laura,
the answer to your question is Yes.
I am sorry to say that I am no advocate of medical abortions. They cause more bloodloss, take more time and one is never sure if the pregancy is completely removed, as your case shows.
A surgical procedure is safe , takes 6 minutes and can be done with local or general anesthesia.
