Question
QUESTION: I had a medication abortion exactly 2 weeks & four days ago on 8/17/10
its now 9/4/10 and I'm still spotting a brownish fluid I'm getting worried
how long does this usually last and is there any posibility that I may get
my regular period only 2 weeks after the abortion because I'm starting
to get symptoms of having my period already and it hasn't been 4 weeks

ANSWER: Hello, sandra,

Unfortunately, these pills are not safe. However, it sounds like you have been lucky so far, because you are not bleeding heavily. How far along were you? These pills disrupt a woman's hormones, so nobody can predict what they will do to a particular woman. Bleeding or spotting can happen for weeks. Please keep an eye on the bleeding, and if it gets heavier, get a supplement called Cayenne and take it regularly until the bleeding is under control. It seems unlikely you'd get your period this early. It takes awhile for pregnancy hormones to decline. But a lot depends on how far along you were. If you can tell me that, I can probably tell you more about your situation.

Please take care, and don't take these dangerous drugs in the future. Stay safe.

QUESTION: Heyy thanx for the response I was 4 weeks and 1 day pregnant when I
got the medication abortion done. I jus believed that my regular period
may have came earlier because I got cramps, my appetite increased, and
my breast were hurting all the symptoms that I normally get before my
period but where can I get the supplement called Cayenne

ANSWER: Hello, sandra,

If you are counting from your last menstrual period, you are probably still pregnant. If that is the case, please do not take any more pills. There are organizations that can help with your needs, whatever they might be. You have a right to hear what they have to say and offer. You can find one near you by going to this web site:

You can get Cayenne at just about any health food store. Good luck!

QUESTION: I already had my follow up appointment a week after my abortion the
ultrasound showed that the pregnancy has passed so I'm not still
pregnant I'm not bleeding heavy at all but I'm kinda nervous about it its
my 1st time ever goin through this so I really don't know what to expect
and bleeding and spotting for 3 weeks is definately scary and not normal
for me I jus want to kno how will I continue spotting after my regular
period ends

Answer
Hello, sandra,

Nobody knows how a given woman's body will react to an abortion. Abortion disrupts a woman's hormones. So you will have to wait and see, unfortunately.

I hope you don't try this again in the future. Like I said, you were lucky this time. You might not be so lucky next time. I can certainly relate to bleeding and spotting for 3 weeks being scary. These pills stop the hormone that controls bleeding, so anything is possible. There are women bleeding to death after taking these pills. They are powerful drugs, and a pregnant woman should never take them.

I am relieved that you are doing fairly well. Please take care of yourself.

I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of eleven. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues. I am not a doctor, but I have done extensive medical research, so I may be able to help with information. I am female. When you write, if you are or were pregnant, please tell me how far along you were or are, and if you have had an abortion, please tell me what kind. Thank you.

Experience

I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.

Education/Credentials
I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.
