Abortion/is intercourse supposed to be painful after an abprtion?

Question
I had an abortion 13 days ago. I was 17 weeks and 4 days pregnant. I haven't been bleeding. Last night I had intercourse with my boyfriend. I can say it was very painful and when he pulled out the condom was covered with a brown discharge. My vagina was feeling really sore after (as if I had just lost my virginity all over again) is this normal? Will sex continue to be painful? How long should I wait before I continue to have intercourse?

Answer
Remember that your vaginal lubrication has decreased and using a condom can increase irritation.  The brownish discharge is normal.  You could even have red blood after sex and mild cramping that may require taking Ibuprofen.  You had a second trimester abortion and it may tale a few weeks for your hormone levels to return to normal.
