Abortion/My Abortion Report
Expert: Pat G - 5/5/2011
QuestionHey Pat,
I am a student at Temescal Canyon High school, doing a bioethics report on abortion and need an expert interview. I would really appreciate it if you answered the following questions. Thank you so much!
1. Do you believe the fetus is alive in the womb or outside of it?
2. About how many babies do you abort a year?
3. When do you consider it is necessary to abort?
4. Why do you think many women abort?
5. Do you think women should abort their children instead of giving them up for adoption? Why or why not?
6. What is the best advice you can give 2 a teen who is currently making the decision between aborting or giving up for adoption?
7. What advice do would you give to teens who are currently thinking about having sex, even though they know the risks involved?
Thank You so very much! I really appreciate it!

AnswerHello, Kim,
We're not supposed to answer homework questions, but you are asking for an interview and my opinions, so I will answer some things. You mentioned that you are doing a bioethics report. Abortion is a violation of medical ethics. Period. In my opinion, anybody who got a medical degree and then did abortions is no longer worthy to be addressed as "doctor".
1. Science tells us clearly that the fetus, embryo, blastocyst, etc. are alive. This is not a matter of opinion or belief. Furthermore, all of these, if they have human DNA, are human beings.
2. I don't abort babies.
3. I don't think there are any current situations where abortion is necessary. In the case of a more advanced pregnancy, the baby can be delivered alive and given intensive care if need be. In a tubal pregnancy, the baby cannot survive, but the doctor should remove the baby and amniotic sac intact and place them in a bowl of warm water and let nature take its course. I was once told I needed a "procedure" to save my life. I refused. I'm here to tell you about it, and the abortionist (whose identity I didn't know) also was wrong when he said I had miscarried. The abortion industry has many euphemisms that are used to obscure the situation and prevent a woman from giving informed consent.
4. Most women abort either because of coercion or adverse circumstances or both.
5. Abortion is a vicious attack on a woman's body. Adoption is much safer for the mother. A mother can also parent the child, and there are many resources available to her to help her do that.
6. I would tell a teen that she is asking for all sorts of medical problems if she has an abortion. An abortion can kill her, or do serious harm to her, and possibly to her future children. Abortion also makes a woman much more likely to get breast cancer or an auto-immune disease such as rheumatoid arthritis. Abortion can cause a future child to develop cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism, mental retardation, blindness or deafness, and for that reason alone, it is unacceptable. It can also cause a woman to bleed to death, to develop a massive infection that will kill the woman within hours, perforate her uterus, damage other internal organs, make a woman 6 times as likely to commit suicide than if she carried to term, cause numerous other emotional problems, and the list just goes on and on. I wouldn't wish an abortion off on my worst enemy.
7. I would tell teens that sex is for making babies, and that it has deeper meaning than can reasonably be explored in a casual relationship. "Protection" doesn't work most of the time; it only delays things. A person can also get a serious sexually transmitted disease from sleeping around. Sex usually complicates what ought to be a carefree relationship, and situations where young people should be learning the kinds of social interactions they will need later in life. I have just seen far too many tragedies of all sorts when people have sex outside of marriage. I would tell them the only truly safe thing they can do is abstain.
I hope this helps.
