Abortion/Period after abortion

Question
I had an abortion in October of 2010 and since then my period has been extremely abnormal.  When I do have it, which occurs every 5-6 weeks (before the procedure I was on a 28 day schedule), it lasts about 5-7 days and is so light that it rarely even warrents the use of a pantyliner.  It's a very faint light brown discharge, there is no red fresh-looking blood.  I have been reading about Asherman's syndrome, and I would like to know whether I should be worried about my almost absent periods considering that six months have passed since the procedure.

Answer
You should just go an have a gynecological examination.  That unusually includes a thorough history, examination and an ultrasound.  You may also need blood work which would include a thyroid screen and hormone levels.  If that is all normal then there would be a concern.  But the doctor can try medications like Provera to stimulate your period.  Provera is a progesterone that thickens the lining of the uterus.  You take it for 7 days and then you have withdrawal bleeding.  The doctor would then try a birth control pill to regulate your cycle if you have no contraindications for taking it.
