Question
I had an abortion on march 28, 2011 when i was almost 11 weeks pregnant. I had no problems. But now my stomach is still getting harder and larger. I don't know how to tell if I'm still pregnant or not

Answer
Hello, jacy,

The easiest way is to take a pregnancy test. You would be well into the second trimester by now, if you are still pregnant. You should be feeling movement, unless it is a new pregnancy. There is always the possibility that you weren't pregnant, but rather, had an abnormality such as a molar pregnancy.

Molar pregnancies are not common. But here is a page of some basic information that may help:

http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0001907/

There is also the possibility you were carrying twins, and they got only one.

You should see a doctor if you suspect any abnormality. I recommend you find a good doctor who is used to dealing with women who have had an abortion, but aren't likely to have poor medical judgment. People who actually do abortions usually have poor medical judgment, because abortion is very dangerous, and in most cases, there is no medical reason to do one. You can find a doctor by finding an organization in your area that helps pregnant women. You can find such an organization by going to this web site:

Good luck with this. Please let me know what you find out.

Expertise

I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of eleven. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues. I am not a doctor, but I have done extensive medical research, so I may be able to help with information. I am female. When you write, if you are or were pregnant, please tell me how far along you were or are, and if you have had an abortion, please tell me what kind. Thank you.

Experience

I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.

Education/Credentials
I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.
