Question
Dear Dr., i am 19 weeks pregnant, i did blood test and it turns that my CMV / IgG is high = 214 UI/ml but my CMV/IgM is 0.08 negative. I need to know what the causes of this virus, is it high risk for my baby and my pregnancy, and finally can i infect my husband too.
Thank you

Answer
Dear Sabine

It depends.
If you contracted the virus during your pregnancy there is a risk that your baby will be born with defects.
If you had the virus before you were pregnant, you have antibodies in your blood, and the chances of
damages to the fetus is less; but still existant.
Yes you will infect your husband if he not allready carries the virus.
No good news I fear.
Bests,

Dr Shan
