Abortion/prolonged bleeding

Question
Hi, I found out i was six weeks pregnant so I took Cytotec last June 1. The heavy bleeding stopped after 10 days. Actually, after that I would only find blood the size of a coin so I thought the abortion was finished. My boyfriend and I had sex at the tenth day and after a week I started bleeding again. I'm just worried whether I got an infection from the intercourse or whether it's still the effect of the Cytotec. Please help me. Thanks.

Answer
Hello, J,

It is most likely the prolonged bleeding is caused by Cytotec. If that is the only drug you took, it's not even clear that it caused an abortion. Sometimes it doesn't. And at this point, you would be too far along to try it again. Infection is more likely to show up in another way, rather than resumed bleeding. It is possible you could have gotten an infection, since you had just stopped bleeding, and your uterus may still have been open. It could be a silent infection, such as what causes pelvic inflammatory disease. But the only way you'll know for sure is to have tests run.

Prolonged bleeding is dangerous and can kill or seriously weaken a woman. I recommend that you get some cayenne into your body. It can be in the form of a supplement, or you can eat food with red hot peppers in it. Continue to do this until the bleeding stops for good. If you continue to bleed, you should see a doctor.

If you don't want to have to worry about pregnancy, you should stop having sex. Your boyfriend owes it to you to protect you and not take advantage of you. Please have a talk with him. Does he truly cherish you, or is he just using you for pleasure? Find out.

If you are still pregnant, please don't do anything about it. You deserve better, and there is no reason to endanger your life by trying to have another abortion. Find a good doctor who knows abortion is bad medicine, and work with him for a favorable outcome.

Please take care, and don't take any more chances with your life. Let me know how you do. Good luck!

Expertise

I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of eleven. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues. I am not a doctor, but I have done extensive medical research, so I may be able to help with information. I am female. When you write, if you are or were pregnant, please tell me how far along you were or are, and if you have had an abortion, please tell me what kind. Thank you.

Experience

I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.

Education/Credentials
I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.
