I had a surgical abortion a week ago, at 8 wks pregnant. My doctor said I could continue intercourse whenever I felt ready, I did so about three days afterward. I have read a lot of contiversial topics online of how you cannot get pregnant the first week afterward, so we were not using protection. This morning he accidentally came inside, so I was reading more online and some pages say you can be more fertile after an abortion, I just picked up my bc today, but I was wondering is this true, and if so what could be my chances of pregnancy again?
I had my procedure done at planned parenthood, and wasn't required for a second check up. Except for one in 5 more weeks to check on my cyst, from the pregnancy.
Is there a chance I may have conceived again?
Are you really more fertile after an abortion?

According to my old chart I would ovulate in 5 days, I didn't know if that would help any. Or if the abortion would start a new cycle.
I am a bit worried and wanted an opinion sense I know a pregnancy test would still come out positive in a fee weeks.

Hi Paige,

I can't tell you exactly what the chances for pregnancy would be. In my experience, most women should wait at least 2 weeks before resuming sex. So I am surprised that you were told whenever.
I really haven't done much research on if women are more fertile after abortion. There is a chance of pregnancy but that's about all or anyone can tell you at this point. You could contact a pregnancy resource center and ask about the free pregnancy center test that is given there.
