Question
Is there anything I can do to reduce breast pain and swelling after my abortion?

Please advise

Answer
Hello, S,

If you had the abortion recently, I would assume that the cause of this problem is that your pregnancy hormones are still high. If this is the case, it will go away gradually, but if you try to do anything to change your hormone balance, it will cause more trouble than it's worth. Abortion wreaks havoc on the breasts. If it is your first pregnancy, you are now much more likely to get breast cancer. If you have had a child in the past, you aren't as vulnerable. I am sorry that they didn't warn you before you had the abortion, but if they had, they might not have gotten your money. Providing abortions is about making money. It's not about helping women, because abortion doesn't help women.

I recommend you take Vitamin D3 for the rest of your life, to help protect yourself from breast cancer. A good dose to start is 5000IU a day. You will need to have your blood tested periodically to make sure you are not getting too much. But your Vitamin D levels in your blood should be somewhere around 75ng/ml. I don't know if you can find anyplace in Kenya to get regular thermograms, but if you can, you should do that. Do not get mammograms. They can cause or spread breast cancer.

Abortion causes all sorts of health problems. If you want any information about this, let me know, and let me know what kind of abortion you had.

If you still have significant pain and swelling after several weeks, it might be a good idea to see a doctor. Don't go to the person who provided the abortion. That person cannot be trusted and will not be helpful. If you notice that the skin over your breasts is very warm, or if you see anything else unusual, or if you develop a fever, by all means see the doctor. Also see the doctor if it has been weeks since you had the abortion, and your breasts are still very painful. Good luck with this. Please let me know how you do.

Expertise

I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of eleven. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues. I am not a doctor, but I have done extensive medical research, so I may be able to help with information. I am female. When you write, if you are or were pregnant, please tell me how far along you were or are, and if you have had an abortion, please tell me what kind. Thank you.

Experience

I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.

Education/Credentials
I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.
