Question
Few weeks back i found out that i am pregnant by taking HCG Urine test at home.. Since this was unwanted pregnancy so i took an abortion pill (Mifepristone & Misoprostol) on 7th of june.. then i had bleeding.. it was more than periods and had heavy bleeding for 4 days.. But the gradually flow of bleeding decreased (for a week) to No Bleeding.. So does this means that Abortion has been successful?? And when shud i expect my next periods?? I had my last periods on 2nd of may.. then had unprotected sex on 14th & 21st of May.. Missed my period so took abortion pill on 7th of June.. Please Guide me as i am really veryy worried.. :(

Answer
Hello, Sona,

It does seem that both times you had sex were within your fertile period. If you conceived on the 14th, then most likely you took the pills during the window in which they will "work". If you conceived on the 21st, most likely, you took them too early. However, if you are still pregnant, by now it is too late for them to work.

When you take those pills, it disrupts your cycle, so nobody knows when periods will start again, because each woman is different. There are long term consequences that result from taking those pills. They are poisonous and dangerous. If you were successful with an abortion, you are now much more likely to get breast cancer or auto-immune disease such as lupus. I also read just today that some women who take the pills will be more likely to have a very early birth with a future pregnancy, and this is a major cause of serious birth defects. Abortion ALWAYS damages a woman's body. Please don't ever take those pills again. If you are not in a position to raise a child right now, you shouldn't be having sex, because protection doesn't work.

Do you have symptoms of pregnancy? You should test for pregnancy as well. If you have a positive test, check again in a week, and see if the test seems to indicate a lower level of pregnancy hormones than before. Other than that, you will just have to be patient. There's no point in doing anything else. Other than that, the only way you can know for sure is to go to the doctor and have him check you. Nobody will be able to tell you over the internet if you are still pregnant.

Please take care, and don't take any more chances. You deserve better than abortion.

I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of eleven. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues. I am not a doctor, but I have done extensive medical research, so I may be able to help with information. I am female. When you write, if you are or were pregnant, please tell me how far along you were or are, and if you have had an abortion, please tell me what kind. Thank you.

Experience

I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.

Education/Credentials
I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.
