Hello, I had my period last on the 21st august, my cycles always been regular every 30 days for 7 days, this month 2 days before my period was due I had brown stringy discharge with abit of pink, so I decided to take some tests amd turns out I'm nearly 2 weeks pregnant, I've got cramps and its been the 3rd day of the brown discharge could you please help me on what this could be and wheather I should be worried.thanks.

Answer
Hello, selina,

I think it is best if you go to the doctor and ask these questions. Since you are experiencing cramps, it's possible that you will have a miscarriage. The doctor should test your hormone levels. It doesn't sound like you should necessarily worry about this. Miscarriages happen often, and most of the time, there is no serious harm done. Some children simply live longer than others, and vice versa.

Are you concerned about a negative impact pregnancy can have on your life? Some women think that pregnancy will end life as they know it (it will make the future very uncertain). There are organizations in UK that can help you with this if this is the situation. You can find one near you by going to this web site:

It's also a good place to get a recommendation for a doctor who will treat you right.

If you encounter a doctor who tells you that he must intervene, don't just let him do what he wants. Many times, these situations resolve themselves, and you'd be better off both medically and emotionally if you give this a chance. I know this from personal experience. Try to find a doctor who is reluctant to intervene.

Please let me know what happens, and take care.

Expertise

I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of eleven. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues. I am not a doctor, but I have done extensive medical research, so I may be able to help with information. I am female. When you write, if you are or were pregnant, please tell me how far along you were or are, and if you have had an abortion, please tell me what kind. Thank you.

Experience

I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.

Education/Credentials
I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.
