Abortion/can an abortion affect the contraceptive shot?

Question
I had a depo shot in November and a month later I found out that I was already pregnant when I had the shot. So I had an abortion on the 18th December, same day I was due for my next shot, so i got the abortion pills in the morning nd in the same afternoon I got the shot, but the abortion process only started late on that same day. Now I am scared to that the shot might not be affective!

Answer
Hello, O.

Can you give me the names of the medication you took? That is, can you give me the brand names? You have said you took the depo shot, so that sort of identifies that one.

It seems unlikely to me that the two would counteract each other. But I am quite concerned that you are taking these powerful and poisonous medications. If you are not married, you are taking a terrible medical risk so your partner can use your body for his own gratification, with no concern about what it will do to you. Not only can such medications kill you, but they can also make you much more susceptible to sexually transmitted diseases, and to certain other diseases such as breast cancer. You can't interfere with how your body functions like that, without paying the consequences.

Other than that, I really do need more information before I can tell you any more.

You might want to give some serious thought to seeing a doctor. If he can examine and test you, you will know a lot more than you do now. Please let me know what happens. Take care.

Expertise

I can help women with the consideration of their decision, and with resources, and I can share my own experiences as the mother of seven and grandmother of eleven. My approach is to show love and concern, and help women work through the issues, emotional, spiritual, practical. I also help women deal with boyfriend and family issues. I am not a doctor, but I have done extensive medical research, so I may be able to help with information. I am female. When you write, if you are or were pregnant, please tell me how far along you were or are, and if you have had an abortion, please tell me what kind. Thank you.

Experience

I have been working with women who are considering abortion for several years. I also work with women who have had abortions. Our family has also experienced adoption, so I can talk about that as well.

Education/Credentials
I am mostly self-taught. I also studied midwifery for awhile. I have spent years doing research on this topic. In fact, I have been doing research and working in this area since the early 1970's. I have been helping women online for a few years, under the guidance of a woman who was formally training in counseling.
