Abortion/2nd abortion

Question
I am 5 weeks preg. and thinking about having my second abortion.  The first one went okay, but two months after I had the abortion I started bleeding perfidiously while I was at work.  They had to call an ambulance.  My ob said it was just my body trying to get rid of everything else.  I am scared that this will happen again at work.  What are the chances?

Answer
Dear Anabel,
That is a very unusual problem, and unlikely to occur again.  You probably had a little bit of the lining "decidua" left after the procedure. Sometimes even just a tiny bit can cause slow, continuous bleeding forming a clot. It can then come out suddenly and can be a significant amount of bleeding when it does. It is a harmless problem but very scary, nonetheless.  Make sure to let the doctor know when they do the procedure so they can do a more complete evaluation.  You may want to see my website that discusses early abortion options: earlyabortion.com.
Good luck with your decision.
