Abortion/Abortion
Expert: Sound Advice - 9/9/2005
QuestionI am pregnant now. I am 20 yrs. My blood group is B-ve (B Negative). Now my has crossed the 10th week. Now we have decided to abort the pregnancy (abortion). When consulted with a doctor, I was asked to under go MTP (Medical Termination of Pregnancy). My boyfriend's blood group is AB+ve (AB Positive). The doctor said that blood group of the child is not known and we have the opposite blood groups, so advised me to take an injection which would enhance my possibility to conceive next time. My question is that do we need this injection? Is there any need for the injection?
Thank you for your advice.

AnswerPriyasridhar,
First of all, I want to tell you I am not a doctor. Secondly, it sounds like you are telling me two things. First about the abortion (MTP), and then about the injection. I am curious why you would be getting the injection also and what blood types have to do with MTP. I would caution against getting the injection.
Can I ask if you are trying to have a baby? If so, why have the MTP? If not, why have the injection?
I would try to get a second opinion if at all possible. A woman's reproductive system can easily be harmed by many things. Please feel free to ask more questions if you think I could be helpful.
