Question
Hello, My Girlfriend and I are about to go through and abortion and we need to know if she has endometriosis is there any drug that she has to take before furing or after the abortion or is it safe to have an abortion with endometriosis...and if there are any drugs or antibiotics what the name of it would be.. Thank you very much

Answer
Endometriosis is not something that would typically be a problem if you were to have an abortion.  To be honest with you, most people ask if abortions cause endometriosis (the answer is maybe...) but as for your specific question, I would certainly make the clinic (or where ever you have the procedure) aware of this.  Generally, they would be able to state whether there is anything to take or not.  Honestly, I am not sure there is anything to take that would help.  I would imagine the condition could make the abortion more painful (as it does with periods or intercourse).  However, I am not a doctor so take that with a grain of salt.  Usually, one could take ibuprofen (like Advil or Motrin)or naproxen sodium (aleve).  Alternatively, hormonal contraceptives or estrogen lowering treatments can be used in more advanced cases.  Again, I would certainly make aware the condition when you go or even consult a physician about it prior to going.  I hope that helps and sorry I couldn't give more information.
