Abortion/Pregnancy After D&C

Question
I had to have a D&C when I was 11 weeks pregnant. We found out at the ultrasound that there was no heartbeat and growth stopped at 10 wks 6days. My D&C was on Dec.12 07. It is possible to get pregnant before the next period? If so, how likely?

Answer
Lauren,
Yes, it is possible to get pregnant before your next period.  As far as likelihood, your fertility should be the same the month after an abortion as any other time.  There is some thought that women become more fertile right after an abortion, but this has not been proven.  There is no harm continuing the pregnancy if this is the case.
I hope this is helpful,
