Abortion/Pregnancy after medical abortion

Question
I took 400 mcg Cytotec orally and five days later took 800 mg misoprostol at 48 days gestation(200 oral 600 vaginally). I acquired these both from online pharmacies. The day after I woke up with a toilet full of blod and a few peices of tissue. A week later I still tested positive on a pregnancy test so I took another dose of misoprostol. I went to doctor yesterday and they sent me to radiology and I found out that I am almost 9 weeks pregnant and everything is normal: hearbeat, limbs, and uterus.
I told my doctor about the bleeding but not aout anything else but she will find out that I am pregnant. Should I tell my doctor what I did? And if I decide to go through with the pregnancy will my baby be at high risk. I can deal with abnormalities but it would be harder if I knew that I created them.

Answer
Dear Angie,
Unfortunately, misoprostol is known to cause serious fetal anomalies, so you will need to end the pregnancy.  The ultrasound is not accurate at this stage predicting the overall health of the embryo.

You can tell your doctor, or just go straight to an abortion clinic.  It is unlikely that your doctor will have the skills to end the pregnancy. The best resources for abortion offices that would deal with these issues are: earlyabortion.com, gynpages.com, or of course a Planned Parenthood or abortion clinic.
I hope this is helpful.  Good luck!
Doctor Joan
