Abortion/bleeding after abortion

Question
it has been exactly two weeks after i have had my abortion. After my abortion, i didn't bleed much. Just a little spotting here and there. Until yesterday, i started having really bad cramps and more than normal bleeding. I have read the post termination paper and it said these things were bad plus if i had a fever of 100.4 then i would have to go to the ER. i have my pelvic exam in exactly a week. I'm sure i can tough out the pain but is that safe?

Answer
Hi Lynda,
It is not strange to loose blood after two weeks. The tissue that was still in the Uterus has to come out. It stimulates the uterus to contract and that is the cramps you feel. It should be over in a couple of days.
The 100,4 is not alarming either and caused by resorption of some blood.
So, no worry,
dr Shan.
