Question
I had a medical abortion on aug. 24th. I have been bleeding since then. I am concerned, because this week i am bleeding with blood clots the size of grapes....back to back. Should i be worried? In the past weeks i haven't seen anything like this...please help!

Answer
Dear Lashell,
It is normal to bleed daily after a medical abortion.  It can last up to three months.  Clots are not a concern - it just means that the blood has been sitting in your uterus before it came out.  However, heavy bleeding every day is not normal. What is heavy? Make sure to get maxi pads - if you are changing them hourly, and they are full, you should call the doctor who did the abortion and let them know.  You will need to go in for a check up.  If it is only clots, but you are not bleeding that heavy, you shouldn't be concerned.
I hope this is helpful.  You should also call the facility that gave you the pills and ask them the same question.
