Question
Hi Joan. I had an abortion 2 weeks ago and over the past couple of days i have lost my appetite and have an upset stomach. I havent felt 100% since having experienced waking up in sweats and feeling nautious. What could this be? Could the abortion and my symptoms be connected?

Answer
Dear Sarah,
There is a complication called molar pregnancy that can cause ongoing nauseousness.  You can rule it out simply by doing a pregnancy test.  If the test is negative or faint, there is nothing for you to worry about, and the symptoms are probably unrelated.  If it is positive, you need to get checked.
I hope this is helpful,
Doctor Joan
