Question
i just had sex with my boyfriend 2 weeks after my abortion as soon as my bleeding stopped, and since that day i have been having even more heavy flow than usual i wasn't given any medication after the abortion and i don't know if that is normal. i am very worry i have made a mistake, pls i need some advice

Answer
Dear Elsie,
It is completely normal to bleed on and off after an abortion.  What happened to you is completely normal. Sex can stimulate the uterus to contract.  If there is blood from the pregnancy, or just normal bleeding from hormonal changes, it is common to bleed more heavily or pass a clot after sex.  This is a good thing, and nothing to be afraid of.
I hope this is helpful,
Doctor Joan
