Question
is it true that if a woman is about 1-2weeks pregnant and have sex the sperm from the man can cause abortion or make the woman lose the pregnancy

Answer
Dear Olly,
This is a myth.  Sex during pregnancy at any time is safe and normal, as long as the woman wants to have sex.  Early miscarriage is also common and normal, but not caused by sex.  It is estimated now that 1/3 early pregnancies end in miscarriage.  We never knew how common it was until we had the more recent pregnancy tests that turn positive so early.
I hope this is helpful,
Doctor Joan
