Abortion - Pro Choice Views - Am I pregnant?

Expert: Doctor Joan - 1/14/2008

Question
Ok about 4 months ago I underwent a surgical abortion. Since then I have
been on Ortho Cyclen. I take me pill everyday and have not missed a pill since
I began taking them. This month about a week and a half to two weeks before
I was due to get my period I had pinkish brown discharge. It lasted about 2-3
days then stopped. Since then I have started my plecebo yesterday. I still have
not had my period. I am so scared that I am pregnant and no not want to
have to go through another abortion it was so tramatic the first time around.
If you have any information at all i'd appreciate it so much. I'm too scared to
even go take a pregnancy test.

Answer
Dear Jamie,
It's unlikely, but possible to be pregnant on the pill. It is common to have delayed periods, or even to miss your period on the pill. However, the only way to get an answer is to check a pregnancy test. You should be relieved once you take it.  If it comes out positive, write me again.
Good luck!
Doctor Joan
