Question
Hello,  I had a medical abortion (a pill the first day, 4 pills inserted vaginally that night and another 4 inserted the following night). This was about a week and a half ago. I have undergone some other stressors this week (when it rains, it pours) and  I have been avoiding liquor since taking the pills. This is mainly because I am bleeding still. Should I continue to not drink? Will there be any negative effects to my body/systems? If so, when can I start drinking again? Thank you for your help!

Answer
Hi Jasmine,
There is absolutely no problem with drinking alcohol after taking the abortion pill.  It is safe any time.  The only time I would not advise it is the night you take the misoprostol because you might have nausea or vomiting - but other than that, there is no problem.
I hope this is helpful,
Doctor Joan
