Answer
Hi Ashley :)

What kind of pro-choice views? Just general, or something specific?

Here's the FDA's website on the pill, so it's the most reliable information you'll get.
http://www.fda.gov/cder/drug/infopage/mifepristone/default.htm

here's another great site as well:http://www.prochoice.org/about_abortion/facts/facts_mifepristone.html

That's long though, so i can sum some info up for you.
Well, it's given to women who have decided on a medical abortion (either they're given that, or another drug that works in a similar way). Then, 3-5 days after, another drug is administered, (either at the clinic or at home). The second drug is what causes the uterus to contract and empty; it induces a miscarriage.

RU-486 blocks progesterone, the hormone that causes the uterine lining to break down. It also softens and opens up the cervix.

The side effects are that of the medical abortion itself- pain, cramping, bleeding (all expected). The others are nausea, diarrhea, fever, chills, and vomiting. Excessive vaginal bleeding that results in the needing of a blood transfusion occurs in 1 in 500 cases. Sometimes the abortion is not complete. Also, like with surgical abortion and childbirth-there is a risk of death, however, it is significantly lower than that of childbirth. Deaths are 1 in 100,000, and unfortunately, can be prevented in most cases if the girl or woman alerts her doctor when there are adverse side affects.

Was that the info you wanted? Feel free to message back if you need more!
