Abortion - Pro Life Views/Men and abortion
Expert: Bill Stephens - 7/30/2010
QuestionWe read about efforts, all over the world, by pro-lifers to oppose abortion, and, thankfully, various surveys and market research bear out the gradual success of these efforts.
However, as we reflect on all the material that we read, we find very little on the reasons why women have abortions!
Would you have any information, survey results or market research results to throw some light on this aspect of the abortion question for us?
We feel not enough focus is on men/fathers e.g. how they can help women in these sad circumstances.
It’s all too easy to call it “a women’s issue”!

AnswerTo the Maher's,
I appreciate the question. I think society in general needs to veer away from calling abortion a "women's issue". What needs to be focused on needs to be human rights issues of all people, including those who are living and growing inside of his or her mother.
Until the issue is seen as a human rights, rather than women's rights, issue, it will be too easy for pro-choice advocates to refer to women's issues, and it being a women's issue only.
I do not have market research data unfortunately.
Best wishes.
