Abusive Relationships - How Can I Help My Daughter

Expert: Dwayne Anderson - 1/4/2008

Question
My daughter is in a verbally abusive relationship. I have tried talking to her but she doesn't want to hear anything bad about him. How can I get through to her? I am thinking of talking to her about how she feels

Answer
if she's being verbally abused, then she should get out of this relationship. She needs to know that she is being abused and that you care enough to help her. Often victims will deny being abused by a loved one, but this does no good, only deepening the wounds.

You should definately talk to her about how she feels. Tell her that he shouldn't talk to her like that. Anything that makes her feel hurt or worthless is emotional abuse.
