Question
QUESTION: Well from your opinion and from what you read,do you think that I am a lesbian?I just need to know. It'll always bother me.It's this kind of stuff that makes me want to kill myself because I can't accept myself as a lesbian or bisexual, that's not what I want to be and personally,I wouldn't want anyone else to accept me that way either. So from your perspective and from what you have read, does it sound like I am a lesbian or bisexual or straight?

ANSWER: Dear Corrina,  As I have said before, I am unable to answer that question without seeing you face to face.  What I can tell you is that you can choose to be anything you want to be.  You can choose to think anything you want to think.  This is your life and you can become what you want to become.  Again, I strongly encourage you to seek out the counsel of a professional and discuss these questions in a more personal environment.  Blessings!

QUESTION: Sure.Fine.That was something that everyone has told me.At least you tried or at least I think you did.Thank you.

ANSWER: Dear Corrina, If you are receiving this information from more than one source, perhaps it is because it is true.  Part of growing up is learning to take responsibility for our own lives, how we live and what we think.  You are the only one who has control of your life.

You sound like a very intelligent girl and I know with the best wisdom you can find, you will make good decisions about who you want to be and what you want to do with your life.  These questions deserve personal attention Corrina and in not answering them I am giving you the respect you deserve and pointing you in the direction of better resources to handle your issues.  This may not be what you want to hear, but it is the best and safest way to handle your questions.

Blessings!

QUESTION: No,I mean everyone is teling me that it's a question that I should ask a counselor. That is something that I already know.I just need someone else's opinion.I don't go back to my psychiatrist until another week or two.I can't get rid of the question on my own.

Answer
Dear Corrina, They are telling you the truth. These questions are too serious to be answered by what another person sees on the surface or writes in one e-mail.  You are too important to be treated that way.  It would be great if someone could give you a quick answer, but this IS a question to ask your counselor because it just isn't an easy question to answer.

If you are having these tormenting thoughts, I would encourage you to call your psychiatrist and let him/her know that you are having these problems and perhaps they will clear the way to get you in sooner.  I realize a week or so is a long time to be tormented and I would imagine your psychiatrist would feel that way too.

You're going to be OK. It sounds as though you have a good support system around you and people who care about you.  That is worth more than gold!  Blessings!

Expertise

I can answer questions regarding emotional and physical abuse in dating and marriage situations, however I am unable to give legal advice. Having had firsthand experience in an abusive relationship, I understand the feelings, the questions and the doubts we have as we try to make decisions about how to improve our situations. I am also able to address spiritual concerns regarding staying in or leaving these types of situations.

Having been a victim of emotional abuse for many years and having family members who were in violent abuse situations, I have personal experience on many levels. I have since gone on to become a professional counselor and work with abused women.
