Subject: Verbal/Emotional Abuse with my c/l spouse who is not working

Question
How do I deal with my common law of 10 yrs who use to be physically abusive but is no longer (he could be) but now he is verbally and emotionally abusive.  He is not working and I am the sole supporter.  He gets angry when I discuss finances. I have been sick for a year due to stress and am very depressed at this time.  I have asked him to separate and sell the house, he refuses t o leave.  I have two children so its not easy to just up and leave.

Answer
Hi lamanda somchanh, I am sure you touch a soft point for him knowing that he cannot support the family.

You can leave, you can have him out with the help of the police.

What you seem to be saying is that you have to put up with him because of your children or your work or your health problems.

So let me ask you do you want him to leave and are you willing to put up with some little inconveniences for some time?

Or are you willing to have him say another 5years with you waiting for you to do things and verbally and emotionally abusing you/

How long are you going to take this before you say enough and that you need to break the pattern of abuse.

I send you the force of courage that you may make the right choice for you and your children.
God Bless.
