Abusive Relationships - ABUSE

Expert: Alina Neal - 7/8/2008

Question
I live with my fiance and we have a 2 yr old together and I have an 8 yr old from a previous relationship, he is always yelling at me in front of my children calling me really mean demeaning names like low life, whore ect... He also threatens to take things away from me like our car so I can't drive anywhere and he threatens to tell the children really private grown up things about some mistakes I have made in the past (cheating) he screams at my oldest daughter. He also threatens that if I leave he will purposely sabotage a court case I have pending with my daughters father. I am worried he will try to take my girls from me if I leave and he makes me feel worthless like I would never make it without him. What did I do is this abuse or am I crazy?

Answer

This is ABUSE! Controlling and blackmailing men like this are scared as hell that you will leave and they want to control you so they will use any threat they can to hurt you and make you stay put.

Nothing, is worth this, not the threats not the the fighting. You are putting your children and your self through hell. You need to get in to counseling get into a womans shelter if need be and the start working on yourself to see why you are attracting this type. You need to be alone for awhile and start working on yourself , work on your own happiness, take up a hobbie you have always wanted, work out, see a counselor. No threats are worth this horrible anguish.

You can make it without him,you will need to have some money, great support family & friends, a womans shelter. DO NOT have any contact with him not EVEN ONCE. Leave him go, surely in time he will find some other woman who will or will not put up with his abusing ways but at least you will be FREE. If he starts threatening or gets pushy call the police!

You never realize what that means until your gone for a month or two and not worrying anymore.

Take care

Alina
