Question My former employer terminated part of the workforce including me due to company finance issues. I have requested a "401K Termination and Retirement" form in order to withdraw my 401K money which I need. They refuse to send the form because they are not confident the 401K deposits were computed correctly. How long can they delay allowing me to request my money? Is there some other way to request a distribution?
Answer There may be a good reason for the delay. Nevertheless if it has been some time since you were terminated, you probably should apply pressure on them.
The best approach is to contact the local office of the U.S. Dept. of Labor - Employee Benefits Security Administration. They may be able to help you.
