Accounting, Payroll & Pension Issues/profit sharing payout

Question
I resigned my position from my previous employer but have never received my profit sharing pay-out, do i need to send a letter to them in order to receive it?

Answer
The procedure will be specific to your plan. The timing of distributions will also be specific to the plan. Sending a letter or e-mail to the Plan Administrator will probably work. However, I would call or check the Summary Plan Description to find out the exact procedure. If you're not certain who the Plan Administrator is or how to contact, you should check with the HR department.
