Question
My mother was a Jordan Marsh employee years ago and receives a pension as a direct deposit to her bank.  Recently she broke her hip and needs nursing home placement.  In order for us to apply for medicaid to pay for the nursing home she needs to supply information about her pension plan as to the exact value. Can you please help me and direct me to the person I need to speak to.  Thank you

Answer
For now you should fill out the medicaid form showing the amount that is received each month. If they insist on knowing the lump sum value, you will have to contact whoever administers the plan or the trustee. You can probably find out the name and address of the trustee by looking at the 1099R form that is provided to your mother each January.
