Accounting, Payroll & Pension Issues/Paycheck issued in error

Question
A terminated employee receives and cashes 4 checks before they were determined to be issued in error.  What needs to be done if ex-employee refuses to return the checks?

Answer
It tells me that you need to work on the internal controls of the company if 4 checks get through to a terminated employee. Someone should face some disciplinary action for this either HR or Payroll or both.

What you would have to due is take the ex employee to court and than you would have to explain to the judge how this happened.
