Question
If a physician (employee) of a hospital is also receiving director fees for his role as the director of one of the hospital's departments, how should the fees be reported?  On a 1099 or included on his W-2?

Answer
Director fees are reported in box 7 of the 1099-MISC.

You can find the instructions on page 3 at the top in the right hand column of the 1099-MISC instructions. You can go to www.irs.gov, click on forms and type in 1099, scroll down to 1099MisC 2009 and print it out. The information is on page 3.
