Question
I was employed for a major retail chain for 35 years until today when i was given a " separation notice".I was released due to time clock infractions without notice.I felt like i was being harassed and singled out for termination.I will be 55 years of age in april and was looking to retire with benefits. Will i lose my savings due to firing or will i receive the vested amounts i would have gotten at retirement. Please help because i don't trust my former employer.              thanks,Jerry

Answer
Vested benefits can not be lost. If you have any problem receiving your benefits you should contact the local office of the U.S. Dept. of Labor Employee Benefits & Security Administration.

Also if you believe there has been age discrimination or if you believe you were fired so that you would not receive additional pension benefits you should contact the local office of your state or the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunities Administration.

Good luck
