About Dave Dombek

A weather enthusiast from an early age, Dave Dombek is now an AccuWeather meteorology expert.
Experience
Dave received his B.S. degree in meteorology from the Pennsylvania State University in May of 1980.
Dave joined AccuWeather in July of 1980, beginning in the Snow Warning Service late that fall after his few month period of training. Within a short period of time, Dave got involved in radio broadcasting. He spent over 25 years broadcasting forecasts on radio stations throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast states, and has also done newspaper forecasts and television briefings. Currently, Dave is the lead television briefer for all of AccuWeather's television clients in the northeatern quarter of the nation. In his daily forecasting routine, Dave helps coordinate the forecasts in the northeastern part of the country. He is also the Director of Forecaster Hiring and is in charge of hiring new meteorologists. Finally, Dave is the supervisor of the climatology department at AccuWeather.
An avid outdoorsman, Dave enjoys hunting and trout fishing. He also enjoys watching football and is a student of history and current events.
If Dave doesn't already have enough on his plate, he is married with two teenage daughters. He also leads a small Messianic congregation in the State College, Pa. area.

Question
QUESTION: I have the same question as many... What are my chances of rain for October 20th? I'm getting married and our ceremony site double booked and now we have 2 weeks to find another site... We can do it at his families farm, but it would be outside and I don't know how that will work out... What is the average temperature high for that day? The weather has been really cold lately, so I'm thinking it will be a cold fall this year, but I'm still hoping!

QUESTION: I am so sorry. I was trying really hard not to be stupid. The city is Ridgefield, WA. I hope that is enough information. Once again, I'm wondering what the chances of rain will be on October 20, 2007 in Ridgefield, WA. Also, what does the average temp seem to be? Thanks so much!

Pamela,
The normal high temperature for that date is about 62, and the normal low is 44.
The record high temperature for the date is 77, set in 2003.
The record low temperature for the date is 28, set in 1949.
Of more concern than temps that day will be whether or not it rains, and also how windy it will be. During the middle to latter part of next week, a strong jet stream will be over the Pacific Northwest. Embedded within that flow will be a couple of potent storm systems. Each feature will bring with it some rain and gusty winds. Trying to time each storm this far away is very tough, if not impossible. However, you have to be on guard for some unsettled weather that day either way you slice it. If you really luck out, you will be in between systems, and it won't be too bad.
