Question
QUESTION: We are cruising from SanDiego to Hawaii in December and returning in January. Four days each way. What temperatures should we expect?
Thanks

ANSWER: Brenda,

In and near San Diego, the normal high temperatures during that time are in the mid 60s and normal lows are in the upper 40s to near 50. In Hawaii, the normal high temperatures during that period are in the low 80s, and normal low temperatures are in the mid 60s. Of course, over the ocean, there will be a gradient in temperatures...cooler near southern California and warmer near Hawaii.
I hope this helped.

Sincerely,

QUESTION: Your answer helped somewhat but what I really need is the temperature over the ocean.
thanks

Answer
Brenda,

If you take the average of the two extremes, San Diego and Hawaii, that is approximately what the temperatures will be over the ocean. That will likely be in the 70s by day and perhaps 55-65 at night. Obviously, it will be warmer over the ocean near Hawaii than near southern California.
